Description

If you have wondered, how can I help foster/adoptive/special needs families, we have the opportunity for YOU! We are a large, neurodiverse family with 8 (yes 8!) kids at home, ranging in ages from 6 to 22. We are in need of an extra set of hands! In addition, one of our kids is preparing to have surgery this fall, requiring overnight stay and follow up care. We need someone (or more then 1!) for varying days and hours. No overnight needs at this time. We are looking for help playing with and supervising children. This typically involves water or messy (sensory) play outside, going for occasional walks, simple outdoor games, assisting a parent at local parks/outings. Inside, it might be assisting a parent with simple crafts or activities, playing pretend, dance parties, fort building, reading time, Hot Wheels, doll house, slime/playdough, etc. It does NOT involve the use of electronics other than music players, school work and occasional group movie. We are homeschooling some of our children, so additional support with assignments is helpful. Lastly, these kids are busy! An ideal candidate would be willing to occasionally drive a child to drum lessons, ranch work, etc. Compensation for mileage would be provided. Light meal prep and/or housekeeping may be needed at times. The ideal candidate will have verifiable experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and behavior challenges. Compensation is generous and DOE. It is a bonus if you are a respite provider with Maxim, IHSS caregiver in Placer County or willing to obtain TBRI training from local family services agency. Livescan fingerprinting, CPR/First Aid may be required as we have two Type 1 diabetics in the home. To discuss the position further, please email Alison at aliburt@yahoo.com. You may call or text at 916.316.3977. We are located near I-80/Hwy 193 or Ophir Elementary School. We are a hobby farm with goats, chickens, dogs, dirt, bugs and uneven terrain. Come be a part of supporting your community!
